For Christmas this year we bought a real tree and set it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. We bought this tree not remembering that we had borrowed a tree stand the last time we had a real one. So we got the tree home and couldn't put it up. Off we went to find a tree stand. Three stores and two purchases later we finally found one that fit around the base of our tree.
We got to open Christmas presents later in the afternoon on Christmas day. We went to church first and the came home to open presents. Isaac asked Santa for Handcuffs with a key, dominoes, and Woody. He was thrilled when he received all three things he asked for.
During the Holiday season we are reminded how truly blessed we are. The holiday time can be hectic for everyone, but it is the busiest time of the year for Marshal at work. We are grateful for family and friends who work around our crazy schedules, and invite us to various events. We can not say Thank You enough for those of you who have helped us this past year. We are truly blessed by having you all in our lives. Thanks again and Happy Holidays.

Free Zoo Day!
Horray for Hogle Zoo. They have been doing free zoo days on the last Wednesday of each month. We decided to brave the cold and go on Dec 28th. It was cold, but we also got to see a lot of animals we generally can't find during the summer. The elephants were playing with Christmas Trees and the tigers were up and walking around. We were surprised that they were so active, but we guess they had to move around or they would be freezing.

Halloween
This is the first year Isaac has been willing to touch the pumpkin seeds. He became our professional pumpkin cleaner. He also helped with the carving of his this year.
Here are our pumpkins all light up.
Isaac got to pick our costumes this year. When we asked him what he wanted to be he said, "Buzz Lightyear," without hesitation. Then he announced that Dad would be Woody and Mom would be Jessie. So we all matched this year. Marshal made Isaac's Buzz Lightyear wings. They were made from cardboard and colored duct tape. He received many compliments on his wings.

Touch a Truck
We got to go to a cool event that was up at the University of Utah. It was called touch a truck. Local businesses brought their vehicles and the kids got to climb all over them. There was a swat van and fire trucks and all types of large machinery. We went with our friends Chloe, Remington and Virginia. The highlight of the trip was being able to go up in a boon lift truck. When it was fully extended they were 50 feet in the air.
I thought that Isaac would be intimidated by going up that high, but I guess Disneyland prepared him to handle anything. When he got down he wanted to go up again.
He got a balloon sword and a scabbard and also got to paint a car. It was an awesome event and we are excited to go again next year.

We did so many fun things this summer, it would be impossible to name them all. Here are some of our favorites.
Utah's Hogle Zoo with Grandma and Grandpa Schut and the Hatch Family.
Jump Around Utah also with the Hatch Family.
The Farm at Thanksgiving Point. We went a few times with different groups of friends.

Swimming Lessons
Isaac got to do swimming lessons this summer. This was the first class he has done that hasn't been a mom tot class. The first few days he was a little anxious, but he got used to it and every morning he would wake up and ask if it was swimming day.
He really enjoyed his class. He had friends in his class Paisley (his cousin) and Chloe (a friend). They would play while we waited for our other cousins to finish their lessons.
During the course of lessons Isaac got really confident. One day he came home from class and announced that he was going to jump off the diving board. I did not think he would actually do it. On the last day of lessons his teacher took them over to the board. He walked up confidently at first, but as he got to the end he crouched down and looked down. He noticed how high it really was. He wouldn't jump so his teacher helped him off the board. As the lifeguard brought him to the side he was grinning from ear to ear. He was so proud of himself. We were proud of him too.

Easter
Isaac was really spoiled for Easter this year. We went to a couple different Easter Egg hunts around our city as well as a special one at Grandma Schut's house. He was very analytical about which eggs he wanted to pick up.
The Easter Bunny came to our house and hid a lot of Easter eggs around our house. Here is Isaac and Dad holding some of the prizes the Easter Bunny brought for Isaac.

WE HAVE MOVED!!
The Underwood Family is proud to announce that we have purchased a house in Riverton.
We had loved living in Bluffdale, but it was time to upgrade. Here is what the old house looked like before things started being loaded into the trucks.
Luckily, we did not move far and have wonderful friends and family who came to help. It took just a few trips with a truck and borrowed trailer and we were unloaded. Unfortunately, the camera was put into one of the last boxes and was not found in time to take pictures of the unpacking.

Disneyland
We ran into some technical diffuculties recently. We had a blast at Disneyland in March. This is the Underwood Family with Mickey.
Here are all the Schut grandkids ready to catch the shuttle for the first day in the Disneyland park. We got to ride the shuttle from the hotel to the park. That was one of Isaac's favorite parts of our vacation.
Isaac's favorite ride was the Tea Cups. He got to ride with Grandpa Schut who spun that cup until everyone, except Isaac, was almost sick. He got off and immediately said, "Let's do it again!" We rode the Tea Cups a total of 5 times in three days.
Overall we had a fabulous time!

OUCH!!
This year started out really well for the Underwood family. Then we seem to have gotten all the bad luck all at once.
We were looking at our new house. Which happens to have a sliding glass door. Isaac was in the front yard and ran thru the house to come to the back yard. He did not notice that the sliding door was open. He went head over heels down 4 cement steps. It reminded Marshal and I that we really need to get a new first aid kit for the car. There we were, in a vacant house with no water, tissues or anything else. Grandmas to the rescue. Grandma Schut had napkins and a towel in the car so we got things under control fast. He ended up tearing the same place in his mouth that he had hurt two days before. He came home with a fat lip, a slightly swollen nose, a goose egg, and cement rash on his lips and nose. We were lucky that he didn't hurt himself worse. We are looking into getting a screen door for that sliding glass door, and working with Isaac on not running through doorways, especially in a place that we aren't familiar with.
I got a phone call around 7:30 at night on Feb 24th. Marshal was calling me to tell me that he didn't have an insurance card and needed to go to the hospital. Apparently he had cut his middle finger earlier that day. After he cut himself, he got it under control and then went back to work. When he actually looked at it a few hours later, he realized that he needed stitches. So we called Grandpa Underwood to come stay with Isaac and I took Marshal to the Instacare. About an hour and a half later we came home with a new personal record. Marshal ended up with five stitches, even through his childhood antics he had only had 4 stitches. So we have a new record, and hopefully we will not beat it any time soon.
Exactly a week after that happened, Isaac was jumping on his bed. I heard a crash and a scream and knew it couldn't be good. He was holding onto his dresser while jumping and had come down hard on his chin. He did a little damage to the inside of his lip. It took a while to get the bleeding under control, but after that and a few popsicles he was fine. We had finally healed a bit until a few days later.

Guess Who's 3!!
Isaac turned 3 years old this year and I cannot believe it. The time has gone by so fast. When asked what type of party he wanted he replied, "Story Time." Which translated meant Toy Story. He picked out the characters he wanted on his cake and insisted that they be on the moon, so that is what he got. We had his party at the church and invited family and friends. He also requested balloons, which quickly became the hit of the party.
Again he was spoiled rotten, he didn't really have a favorite present, but he does really like his Sesame Street tool bench.
